Southern Nazarene University is blessed with many student leaders who do their best to make campus better for the students who attend it. Out of all the leadership positions, the senior class president is one of the most important for students, seniors especially, to know. That position, of course, belongs to Anna Tatman.
Anna is originally from Sacramento, California, but she came to SNU to pursue a different path than the one she is on now. “I came to SNU because my parents are both Nazarene pastors, so I got a scholarship coming to SNU,” she said. “I also came here as a pre-law major and wanted to join the debate team, because I thought that would be good for my major.” After realizing what her path truly is after her years here at SNU, she is now a pastoral ministry major who interns at Lake Overholser Church of The Nazarene.
This will be Anna’s second year being on a SALT and Senate team. Last year, she was an RA in the Hills dorm. When asked about her involvement on campus, she described how meeting people and having fun with her positions is what motivates her. “I like being involved on campus because I think it’s a good way to meet new people and have fun,” she explained. “[With that], I decided to apply for the class president position.”
Seniors can sometimes feel excluded from the events on campus because they don’t necessarily appeal to them as much as they did when they were freshmen. Luckily for the seniors, Anna has decided to dedicate an event specifically for seniors! When she was asked about what seniors should be looking out for, Anna exclaimed, “The senior trip! And all of the other SNU events going on around campus, because it’s your final year to have a super epic, awesome time.” The senior trip will take place on the 20th and 21st of November, where a group of seniors will head to Broken Bow, OK, and stay in a big cabin.
We asked SALT and Senate Chair Kaseton Farris his thoughts on the trip. “It’s the first time we’ve ever done something like this, it’s new, so it’ll be really exciting,” he commented.
Although seniors have already gotten the chance to sign up, they are still looking for spots to fill. If you are a senior and are interested in the senior trip, look for the sign up in an email coming soon, or look for posters that should be coming out soon!
