The annual Trunk or Treat event at SNU took place this past Friday on Oct. 30, giving students an opportunity to give back to the Bethany community by hosting different trunks with a theme behind them for Halloween.
There were many different trunks and creative themes this year. The Chapman and Bracken Residence Life staff dressed up as characters from Finding Nemo. Similarly, the Hills staff themed their trunk as the movie Up. SALT also featured standout trunks, such as their Winnie the Pooh trunk with balloon animals and a princes and princesses trunk. Some of SNU’s athletic teams joined the fun as well, with the football tight end group dressing up as duck hunters.
A highlight of the event was the Community Relations team’s The Incredibles trunk. The team grilled delicious hot dogs and served hot chocolate, making it a quick favorite among both the Bethany and SNU community. The team also had great costumes that perfectly matched their overall setup.
When asked about their favorite part of the event, attendants highlighted the community atmosphere, as well as the amount of creative costumes.
Cotton Tanner, who dressed up as the house balloons from Up for the Hills staff trunk, said, “The costumes, honestly. I’ve seen some truly amazing and creative costumes here.”
Tajon Williams, who dressed up as Frozone for The Incredibles trunk, enjoyed the team aspect of the event. “My favorite part was dressing up with my fellow SALT members here and having a great time,” he stated.
Kaden Manuel, who portrayed Mr. Incredible and helped grill hot dogs, underscored the outreach aspect of the event.
“It’s just cool to serve the community, you know. I think it’s awesome to get the community out, and be able to let them know what SNU’s all about,” he mentioned. “It’s actually one of my favorite events that I get to do as a part of community relations, so overall it’s a great time.”
While the event could have been canceled due to the rain earlier in the day, clear skies and the lovely fall weather arrived just in time for SNU to host one of its most anticipated events. We hope to see you next year!
